{"id":4106,"date":"2014-08-21T09:00:50","date_gmt":"2014-08-21T13:00:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.floridacitrus.org\/newsroom\/?post_type=fdoc-news-item&amp;p=222"},"modified":"2014-08-21T09:00:50","modified_gmt":"2014-08-21T13:00:50","slug":"fdoc-launches-redesigned-newsroom-website","status":"publish","type":"fdoc-news-item","link":"https:\/\/www.floridacitrus.org\/grower\/fr\/fdoc-news-item\/fdoc-launches-redesigned-newsroom-website\/","title":{"rendered":"FDOC launches redesigned newsroom website"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BARTOW, Fla. \u2013 The Florida Department of Citrus launched a redesigned digital newsroom Thursday\u00a0in an effort to better provide up-to-date information on the citrus industry to growers, industry members and consumers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Designed\u00a0in collaboration with\u00a0Winter Haven-based web developer Clark\/Nikdel\/Powell (CNP), the newsroom is the first step in\u00a0a redesign of all FDOC websites to\u00a0be completed this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Part of a larger\u00a0public relations and brand communication\u00a0plan aimed\u00a0at increasing the FDOC\u2019s digital\u00a0presence, the suite of websites will feature consistent branding and easy navigation between sites and social media, inviting consumers to learn more about the nutritional benefits and daily uses of Florida Citrus. The sites will also\u00a0be optimized for delivery over mobile devices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The digital newsroom serves as a\u00a0hub for news on the latest research being done to fight citrus greening as well as updated citrus nutrition information. The site also features news of FDOC\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.floridacitrus.org\/grower\/fr\/news\/category\/retail\/\">retail programs<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.floridacitrus.org\/grower\/fr\/news\/category\/international\/\">international efforts <\/a>and original content\u00a0highlighting the often <a href=\"https:\/\/www.floridacitrus.org\/grower\/fr\/news\/category\/grower-stories\/\">untold stories <\/a>of the citrus industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to FDOC executive director Doug Ackerman, \u201cThis is one more example of our commitment to adding value to the industry we serve. We always say, \u2018We\u2019re here to promote and protect\u2019 \u2014 and this online newsroom is a powerful tool in our arsenal.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Other sites scheduled for redesign include those dedicated to informing consumers on 100% Florida Orange Juice, Florida Grapefruit and the soon-to-be-revealed redesigned Captain Citrus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re really excited to be helping FDOC reinvent its digital presence,\u201d said <a href=\"http:\/\/clarknikdelpowell.com\/agency\/people\/alex\/\">Alex Nikdel<\/a>, president of CNP. \u201cWe are proud to be able\u00a0to guide one of the state\u2019s most revered industries into the digital age.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Plus, for Nikdel, working with the FDOC was a natural fit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nikdel\u2019s father, Dr. Seif Nikdel, spent nearly 20 years working as a research chemist at the FDOC\u2019s science labs in Lake Alfred. His work concentrated on verifying\u00a0the origins of orange juice being marketed as 100% Florida Orange Juice.
