Scientific Research Department
The Florida Department of Citrus’ Scientific Research Department is housed on the campus of the Citrus Research and Education Center (CREC) in Lake Alfred, Florida. As director, Dr. Rosa Walsh oversees current FDOC research efforts which focus on:
- Sponsoring health and wellness medical research on the benefits of citrus
- Supporting Global Marketing and Public Relations programs relating to the communication of the nutrition and health benefits of Florida citrus fruit and juice to health professionals and consumers
- Monitoring threats to the industry and responds with appropriate analytical and health and wellness research programs.
- Collaborating with researchers from UF/IFAS, USDA, and FDACS to enhance the research programs around the state
Dietary Guidelines for Americans (DGA)
The 2020-2025 Dietary Guidelines for Americans continues to support 100% fruit juice as a nutritious beverage choice.
The Scientific Research Department has hosted numerous webinars to provide key information related to nutrition science.
