After a series of major freezes in the 1980s, citrus growers gradually migrated southward. \u00a0Polk County, in the central part of the state, remains the top citrus producing county and much of the oranges in Florida are grown in the southern two-thirds of the Florida peninsula, stretching from coast to coast, where there is low probability for a freeze.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cCitrus has a lot of challenges and probably the biggest one is that it\u2019s not a 9-5 job and it\u2019s not five days a week. A lot of times it\u2019s seven days a week.
