{"id":4131,"date":"2014-09-22T10:07:58","date_gmt":"2014-09-22T14:07:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.floridacitrus.org\/newsroom\/?post_type=fdoc-news-item&amp;p=131"},"modified":"2014-09-22T10:07:58","modified_gmt":"2014-09-22T14:07:58","slug":"uf-ifas-polk-county-extension-hosts-centennial-block-party","status":"publish","type":"fdoc-news-item","link":"https:\/\/www.floridacitrus.org\/grower\/fdoc-news-item\/uf-ifas-polk-county-extension-hosts-centennial-block-party\/","title":{"rendered":"UF\/IFAS Polk County Extension hosts Centennial Block Party"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The University of Florida\u2019s Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences Polk County office is celebrating 100 years of extension services with a block party on Saturday, Sept. 27.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/polk.ifas.ufl.edu\/polkcentennial.shtml\">The Block Party<\/a>, which will be held at the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/polk.ifas.ufl.edu\/\">UF\/IFAS Polk County Extension office in Bartow<\/a>\u00a0from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., will feature\u00a0educational sessions on\u00a0the unique aspects of Polk county as well as the extension programs that provide support to local\u00a0communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sessions focus on topics such as\u00a0healthy cooking, Florida-friendly landscaping, plant potting and a history of Polk County ranching.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first 50 attendees will receive a gift. Snacks and refreshments will be served. This is a free, family-friendly event with no registration required.
