{"id":4145,"date":"2014-10-22T15:21:04","date_gmt":"2014-10-22T19:21:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.floridacitrus.org\/newsroom\/?post_type=fdoc-news-item&amp;p=76"},"modified":"2014-10-22T15:21:04","modified_gmt":"2014-10-22T19:21:04","slug":"2014-15-florida-citrus-outlook-report-projects-the-year-ahead","status":"publish","type":"fdoc-news-item","link":"https:\/\/www.floridacitrus.org\/grower\/fdoc-news-item\/2014-15-florida-citrus-outlook-report-projects-the-year-ahead\/","title":{"rendered":"2014-15 Florida Citrus Outlook report projects the year ahead"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>BARTOW, Fla. \u2013\u00a0After several years of increases, retail prices for Florida Citrus are expected to stabilize in the 2014-15 season, Florida Department of Citrus Economist Marisa Zansler told the Florida Citrus Commission Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.floridacitrus.org\/newsroom\/news\/economist-marisa-zensler-brings-her-expertise-to-the-fdoc\/\">Zansler <\/a>presented this season\u2019s Florida Citrus Outlook report to commissioners at their regularly scheduled board meeting. The report included a look at factors expected to influence\u00a0the economics of the industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cProjections for this season are quite optimistic \u2013 even when compared with where we were just a few weeks ago,\u201d Zansler said. \u201cThis is in part due to a larger than expected <a href=\"http:\/\/www.floridacitrus.org\/newsroom\/news\/industry-greets-season-forecast-with-positive-view\/\">USDA Citrus Crop Estimate<\/a> delivered earlier this month.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Among Zansler\u2019s projections are an increase in orange production in both Florida and Brazil, but overall availability is expected to be reduced because of a lower amount of beginning inventories for the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Grapefruit and specialty production are expected to be down and fruit prices for all Florida Citrus are expected to be higher.
