BARTOW, Fla.<\/strong> (Nov. 21, 2019) \u2013 The State of Florida\nAuditor General issued a report with no findings on Florida Department of\nCitrus contract procurement and management processes following a recent audit\nof the Department\u2019s operations. This is the second consecutive time the state\nhas had no findings to report on the Department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI am proud of the work the FDOC staff does and their\ncommitment to being good stewards of the budget,\u201d said Ned Hancock, chairman of\nthe Florida Citrus Commission, which oversees the Florida Department of Citrus.\n\u201cThis report just reaffirms what we already know: our staff consistently\noutperforms and overachieves in all we ask of them.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The most recent audit, which covered the period of May 2017\nto February 2019, reviewed nine contracts and 17 purchase orders totaling\n$10,072,848, for marketing and market research, scientific research, and\nvarious advertising, promotional, and public relations services. The objective\nof the audit was to evaluate management\u2019s performance in establishing and\nmaintaining internal controls, including those designed to prevent and detect\nfraud, waste, and abuse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The State Auditor General performs these audits every three\nyears with each one typically taking four to six months to complete. The last\naudit was conducted in 2016 and had no findings. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
