Caramelized Fruit Platter


  • 4 Florida Oranges
  • 4 Florida Grapefruit
  • 1 cup sugar


Caramelized Fruit Platter

1. Peel Florida Grapefruit and Oranges, then slice into ¼-inch thick rounds. Arrange citrus slices, overlapping slightly, in a deep platter.

2. In a skillet, cook sugar over medium heat for about 10 minutes, swirling sugar in skillet until it begins to melt. Continue cooking and swirling until sugar melts completely and becomes a deep amber color. 

3. Remove skillet from heat and drizzle caramelized sugar over fruit.

4. Serve immediately for a crunchy candy-like topping, or cover and refrigerate until caramelized sugar hardens, about 2 hours, or until ready to serve.

Variation: Thinly slice some Florida Grapefruit peel and sprinkle over fruit before drizzling with caramelized sugar.
