Gov. Rick Scott appointed Aedan Dowling to the seat previously held by Michael Haycock.
BARTOW, Fla. – The Florida Citrus Commission added a new commissioner Friday with the appointment of Aedan Dowling, of Tropicana.
Gov. Rick Scott appointed Dowling to the seat previously held by Michael Haycock. Dowling represents District 3, which includes much of Florida’s Gulf coast and the southern portion of the state.
Scott also announced the reappointment of James S. Horrisberger and Vernon “V.C.” Hollingsworth III. Both of their terms had expired in May.
“While we are sad to see Commissioner Haycock go, we are excited to welcome his colleague Aedan Dowling to the Commission,” said Shannon Shepp, interim executive director of the Florida Department of Citrus. “We look forward to working with Dowling and the rest of the Commissioners as we move ahead with another Florida Citrus season.”
Dowling, 53, of Bradenton, serves as senior director of global fruit procurement for Tropicana. He previously served as a member of the board of directors of the Juice Products Association and currently serves as a member of the board of directors of the Florida Citrus Processors Association. Dowling received his bachelor’s degree from Rutgers College.
Horrisberger, of Lakeland, is the North American fruits and juices procurement director for the Coca-Cola Company. Hollingsworth, of Arcadia, is manager of citrus and cattle operation for VCH Management LLC.
Terms for all three end May 31, 2018. The appointments are subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.
Dowling, Horrisberger and Hollingsworth join Michael J. Garavaglia Jr., G. Ellis Hunt Jr., Dan Caspar, Jonathan “Ned” Hancock, Francisco J. Pines, and Chairman Martin J. McKenna on the commission.
