Cook Time
10 minIngredients
- 4 Florida Oranges
- 4 Florida Grapefruit
- 1 cup sugar
Instructions
1. Peel grapefruit and oranges, then slice into 1/4-inch thick rounds. Arrange citrus slices, overlapping slightly, in a deep platter. In a skillet, cook sugar over medium heat for about 10 minutes, swirling sugar in skillet when it begins to melt. Continue cooking and swirling until sugar melts completely and becomes a deep amber color. Remove skillet from heat and drizzle caramelized sugar over fruit.
2. Serve immediately for a crunchy candy like topping, or cover and refrigerate until caramelized sugar hardens, about 2 hours, or until ready to serve.
3. As a variation, thinly slice some grapefruit peel and sprinkle over fruit before drizzling with caramelized sugar.
